March 2012 Launch Event a Success
The NEXUS Niagara grassroots marketing campaign was officially unveiled to partners and local media outlets on March 1, 2012, during an hour long roundtable discussion on the benefits of trusted travel and RFID-technology at area international border crossings.
The event was held at Empire State Development’s Downtown Buffalo offices.
Commencing the proceedings were representatives from both the U.S. and Canadian federal governments, as well as local elected officials. After several interviews on the basic details of the effort, a more informal meeting took place with 30 different community organizations, chamber groups, tourism advocates, and Buffalo Niagara attractions.
Participants were provided with an overview of the NEXUS program and various informational materials, before taking part in a question and answer session with bridge authority and commission staff and Customs officers.
The response to the event was overwhelming, and additional ambassadors and individual enrollees have enlisted in the campaign as a result!
