Crews Break Ground on Highway Expansion

SOMERSET, SOMERSET COUNTY – Officials broke ground Tuesday morning on the new four-lane extension of Route 219.

The 11-mile section of road is expected to take five years to complete. The road had been delayed for several years due to environmental concerns.

Local and federal leaders toured the site Tuesday. The entire project is slated to cost $266 million, with phase one costing $121 million.
