Continental 1 Board Meets to Set Strategic Agenda

Posted on June 13th, 2011

The Board of Directors of Continental 1, along with regional representatives, met in Dubois, Pennsylvania on June 10 to continue its strategic planning for the organization. Continental 1 is an economic development corridor and 1,500-mile direct route from Toronto to Miami that will bring jobs, business growth and faster, safer travel.

“Our role as an organization is to create awareness and garner support for Continental 1 – which will create jobs and economic development for those communities along the corridor,” said Meg Lauerman, project manager. “As we gain momentum for the completion of Continental 1, we will use the platform of our new brand message – Dream It. Drive it. Get behind it!”

The Board of Directors determined that outreach will focus on community leaders, elected officials, community representatives and the general public to further the goals of the economic development corridor.

Officials also reported that 90% of results have been achieved in the last 10 years, including the launch of a state-of-the-art web site (www.continental1.org), hosting an international trade conference in October 2010 and meeting with hundreds of elected officials, community and business leaders.
