Tourism

Greater accessibility to communities along the Rt. 219 corridor will provide growth opportunities for the tourism and entertainment industries in Western New York and Pennsylvania. The economic impact of increased access to and through the region cannot be overstated.

At the heart of the proposed Rt. 219 projects is Alleghany State Park and the Ellicottville Ski Areas, which attract over 3 million visitors annually. The 2009 University of Pittsburgh Continental 1 study estimates that a completed Rt. 219 will increase tourism in New York 3-5% or $32M-$53M in economic impact annually.
