In the article “Upgrading Route 60” (OBSERVER, March 14) the reporter writes “At the local level, officials say improving traffic flow on Route 60 is needed to connect the Greater Jamestown region and Dunkirk-Fredonia area, with an emphasis on improving public safety. Such ideas include multiple passing opportunities on the highway, added turning lanes and safer intersections. State Sen. Cathy Young, R-C-I Olean, said she believes a study by the state Department of Transportation should be done to determine if any upgrades should be made.”

Cattaraugus County legislators urge New York to OK Route 219 funds

LITTLE VALLEY — Cattaraugus County lawmakers added their voices to Route 219 supporters who want the state to focus on building Section 12 east of Salamanca as the first two-mile link to be constructed north through the county.
The County Legislature was unanimous in urging Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the State Legislature to commit funds to the Route 219 corridor and seek special funding for new highways in rural areas under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act before the end of April.

Commissioners approve IRS recommendations, support Route 219

EBENSBURG – Following the recommendations of a recent audit, Cambria County is changing how certain employees are paid.
During a regular commissioners meeting Thursday, several new positions and salaries were approved to align with IRS requirements handed down by a routine audit at the beginning of the year.
